Lasershow Spectacular in Mountainvision®

Lasershow 2.0

Behind the Scenes

Returning March 31, 2018

2018 marks the 35th Anniversary of the Lasershow Spectacular in Mountainvision®

The Lasershow Spectacular is a not-to-be-missed Atlanta tradition that will wow your family with state-of-the-art digital graphics and awe-inspiring effects. The Lasershow features lights, iconic music, lasers and epic fireworks. Plus, three flame cannons add a punch to the show by sending a trio of flames nearly one-hundred feet into the air.

The Lasershow Spectacular begins between 8:30pm & 9:00pm in the spring, 9:30pm in the summer and between 8:00pm & 8:30pm in the fall.

The Lasershow runs Saturdays from April – May, daily from Memorial Weekend through early August, and Saturdays August through October.

Enjoy the show from the comfort of one of our terraces which showcase an outstanding view of the mountain, its famous carving and the world’s longest running Lasershow.

Some effects may be canceled due to high winds and or/unfavorable weather.

Lasershow History

The Lasershow Spectacular debuted in 1983 on the world’s largest screen, the 825-foot-tall granite outcropping.

In 2008, for the 25th anniversary, the sound system and pyrotechnics for the Lasershow were amped up. The music selections were also diversified to match the increasingly diverse audience.

Innovative when the show launched, the lasers, over time, began to look elementary. In 2011, Mountainvision was launched employing state-of-the-art digital video projection to give the show 3-D-like effects without the need for 3-D glasses. Video opened up a dramatic difference and allowed for new options that the lasers weren’t capable of. Mountainvision can do things like, turn Stone Mountain into a Volcano spewing lava down its sides or the rock crumble right before your eyes. The projection is five times the size of an IMAX screen and taller than the Statue of Liberty! It’s like watching a 5,500-inch high definition TV.

Get ready to feel the heat! Three flame cannons added a punch to the show by sending a trio of flames nearly one-hundred feet into the air in 2015.

In 2017, two-dozen robotic drones donning lights that sync to music were added to the Drone Wars segment in the show. The Lasershow is now so spectacular, the FAA must be consulted to ensure airplanes don’t become blinded by lasers.

Reserved Seating

Reserved seating for the Lasershow Spectacular and fireworks is available on several Terraces along Memorial Lawn. Lasershow Snack Terrace Seat includes a reserved seat, unlimited popcorn, and an ice-cold Coke. A VIP Terrace Seat includes the same as above, plus ice cream and a glow item. For a complete evening, book the Lasershow Dinner Package. It includes a comfortable terrace seat, as well as a buffet dinner, popcorn, a drink and a glow item.

Although the laser show is free with your entry into Stone Mountain Park, if you’d like to take part in any of the attractions at Stone Mountain before the Lasershow, you’ll need a ticket.
