Here are our top recreational activities you’ll love to do during your visit.
Take in the beauty of the great outdoors on one of our many nature trails. Find the path that's just right for you with options varying in terrain, length, and difficulty.
For breathtaking and widespread views, get moving for a 1.1-mile trek up to the summit of the mountain. This trail can be rocky and steep in some areas, so make sure you are prepared and have adequate footwear. Start your hike in the early morning to catch the sunrise or visit later in the evening for a stunning sunset.
For a leisurely stroll around the mountain, the Cherokee Loop Trail is a 5-mile trail through an oak-hickory woodland with sights of the lake.
Set out on a memorable adventure at our campground where you are not limited to regular pop-up tent camping! We have a variety of camping options to suit your preference.
For a more glamorous experience, check out our wood-and-canvas yurts that have furniture and can fit up to five campers. Or, rent one of our Safari Tents that come with a bed and are already set up for you! Want a more traditional camping experience? We have 46 primitive tent sites to choose from. Bring your own tent and set up camp either lakeside or on a wooded site.
When you go out on the water on our peaceful 323-acre lake, you'll have a different angle on the natural surroundings and can watch wildlife from a unique perspective.
GET OUTSIDE WITH REI
The REI Boathouse at Stone Mountain Park offers kayak, canoe, stand up paddle board, and pedal boat rentals. You’ll feel refreshed and rejuvenated in the open air while getting a moderate workout. Classes are also available learn how to navigate the boats and boards.
Rockin' Land & Lake TOUR
Not up for a workout? Book an excursion on a guided journey around the park. Observe emblematic sites aboard an open top, double-decker bus, cruise around the lake on a custom pontoon boat! Look out for Goat Island and other exciting landmarks on this exciting ride!
Fishing is another peaceful lake activity offered at Stone Mountain Park. Take out your own boat during daylight hours, or fish right from the shoreline. Five types of fish can be found in the lake: bass, carp, catfish, bream, and crappie.
Segway Tours Electric Bike Rentals
Coast along the trails with ease, and observe quaint, historic landmarks like Grist Mill, the Quarry Exhibit, and more!
The Electric Bike Rentals are similar to riding a bike, except pedaling is voluntary. The Segway PTs are fairly easy to ride and a tour guide will direct you before you set out and along the way. Tours are offered rain or shine where guides share intriguing history and facts throughout the five-mile excursion. Rentals are available in the Expo in the Crossroads area, but you'll want to secure your tour online before you arrive.
The Stone Mountain Golf Club has become one of the premier golf experiences in the Atlanta area. The two championship golf courses at Stone Mountain Park offer unique personalities and picturesque views.
Designed by Georgia native, John LaFoy, the Lakemont course loops around the tranquil lake and features dramatic bunkering and elevation changes.
The Stonemont course, designed and built in 1969 by the renowned Robert Trent Jones Sr., is the more vigorous of the two due to the tight fairways. This par 70 design spreads across 6,863 yards.
