Fall Events You Can’t Miss at Stone Mountain Park
As the leaves fall and temperatures drop, fall is the perfect season to be outdoors for some family fun.
If you’re looking for things to do in Atlanta, Georgia, Stone Mountain Park is bursting with family-friendly events this time of year!
Yellow Daisy Festival
Bring the whole family to “shop ‘til you drop” at the 51st Annual Yellow Daisy Festival! This award-winning festival brings in hundreds of artists, crafters, jewelers, woodworkers, and more! Think of it as if Etsy were to come to life.
Besides shopping from the huge selection of exquisite handmade items, there will be live music and entertainment, and a variety of lip-smacking cooking and southern treats. Be sure to swing by the legendary Bubba’s Sweet Tea and get a tin mug of the famous beverage. You can bring back your mug for years to come for a $1.00 refill! This is just one of the delicious stops in the food courtyard you’ll have to make.
The best part is that the festival is free with a parking pass! Visit the Yellow Daisy page for more information.
Prepare to be awe-struck when the whole park illuminates with thousands of jack-o-lanterns and spectacular lights! This toddler friendly activity runs from mid-September thru the first weekend in November. Please check the calendar for specific days and times.
Guests of all ages are encouraged to wear a costume. Not only are there costume contests, but you will receive $10 off an Attraction Pass if you wear one!
With an All-Attractions Pass or Mountain Membership, you can enjoy family-favorite attractions by day including the Scenic Railroad, the Dinotorium, Summit Skyride and more! Then, when the sun goes down, that's when the park really begins to glow! Immerse yourself in dozens of not-so-spooky scenes, play a round of glow in the dark mini-golf, join in on an energetic dance party, and much more!
Join us for the annual Eggtoberfest! This event has grown to over 200 EGGheads making tasty dishes like tri-tip tacos, whole pigs, mussels paired with a whiskey sauce, and juicy pulled pork.
Besides savory foods to try, there will also be live music making this a fun thing to do with your family. Tickets are only available for purchase online in advance here. Walk-up tickets are not available for this highly popular event. Eggtoberfest attendees will need to purchase a daily or annual parking pass for admission into the park.
A Tour of Southern Ghosts
You and your family will want to make this event part of your fall traditions! This annual whimsical tour takes place select dates in October inside Historic Square.
Although some stories may be a little spooky under the moonlit sky, they still have a light-heated feel for smaller children. Enjoy a rotation of six expert storytellers, making mysterious stories come to life and bringing a different style and unique flare to the performances. You never know what you’re going to get – but we promise it will always be kid-friendly!
Visit artstation.org for specific tour times and to purchase tickets. This event is not included in an All-Attractions Pass or Mountain Membership.
Stone Mountain Highland Games
This October, “skedaddle aff” to Stone Mountain Park for a Scottish weekend festival that's fun for the whole family.
Enjoy traditional and unique Scottish games including the Caber toss, where the poles tossed are anywhere from 16 to 22 feet and weigh over 100 pounds! Plus, if you have an affection for dogs, the Border Collies demonstrate their herding skills in the Dog Show.
There is also a spot for the “wee lads and lasses” to do face painting, Scottish crafts, and even test their skills in kid-sized games. Traditional Scottish music like bagpipes and a drum band will fill the air and there's a fascinating dance competition that you won’t want to miss.
While you’re there, be sure to pick up an authentic Celtic souvenir like a tartan scarf to bring home! Visit smhg.org for ticket and event information.
Native American Festival and Pow Wow
Experience the intriguing culture and rich heritage of the Native Americans each November in the Historic Square. This festival was named a Top 20 Event by the Southeast Tourism Society and is included with an All-Attractions Pass or Mountain Membership.
