Come join the Farmyard crew for Stone Mountain Park’s bi-annual Sheep Shearing!
On July 28 from 1 - 3 p.m., a professional shearer will share a tradition that dates back 9,000 years and gives the sheep a haircut to keep them nice and cool throughout the summer and early fall. Learn interesting facts about the care of sheep and the many uses of wool.
Fun sheep facts:
- One fleece from a sheep is enough wool to make a man’s suit.
- It only takes our shearer about 2-5 minutes per sheep to shear their wool in one large piece.
