Indian Festival and Pow-Wow

Held at Stone Mountain Park’s Historic Square, the event showcases Native American culture through dance, music, authentic craft demonstrations, cooking traditions, storytelling, wildlife presentations and more.

  • Returning in 2016 - Jim Sawgrass brings his Southeastern Native American camp set-up and “Deep Forest Grand Encampment Show!
  • Experience the central role of dance in native culture as Native Americans from across the U.S. and Central America with dance and drum demonstrations.
  • Learn about primitive skills such as flint-knapping, bow making, fire starting, open fire cooking, and pottery. Crawl inside a tipi and other traditional native dwellings. Teachers and students participate in interactive experiences such as an encampment showing the lifestyle of local and regional historic Native American cultures.
  • Visit the artists' marketplace, where world-renowned Native and Native-inspired artists and crafters demonstrate their skills and offer hand-crafted items for sale.

Some craft demonstrations and attractions may be substituted without notice due to crowd conditions, inclement weather or maintenance. To protect the health of the animals, the Farmyard will be closed to the public during the Thursday and Friday of the Indian Festival & Pow Wow.

Important Tips For An Enjoyable Visit

Vehicle entry to Stone Mountain Park requires a valid parking permit which must be purchased at one of the entrance gates to the Park.

  • One Day Parking Permit for Vehicles with 14 or fewer Passengers: $15.00 (tax included)
  • One Day Parking Permit for Vehicles with 15 or more Passengers: $20.00 (tax included)
  • Buses/motor coaches traveling with a group with pre-paid tickets must present a final booking confirmation to have the parking permit fee waived. If the final booking confirmation is not presented, $20 fee will be charged.
  • Public/private schools or government buses with a permanent logo or name printed on the vehicle will have parking permit fee waived.
  • Personal or private vehicles traveling with a school or tour group are required to purchase a parking permit or have an annual parking pass. This includes chaperone vehicles.

Ticket Information

  • Field Trip tickets must be purchased in advance. Stone Mountain Park and field trip programs operate rain or shine. We do not offer refunds or rain checks.
  • Payment for Indian Festival & Pow Wow field trips is due no later than October 3, 2016.
  • The Group Sales office accepts company checks, money orders and credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover). Personal checks are not accepted.
  • If your group is tax exempt, you must present a valid Georgia State Tax Exemption Form (GA ST-5) when making your payment. Payment must come from the organization listed on the tax exemption form. Out-of-state tax exemption forms do not apply.
  • Ride The Ducks is not included on the One-Day Adventure Pass, but can be added on for an additional fee, currently $8.00 per person (plus tax). Groups may not be able to ride together, as Duck Tours are given on a first come, first serve basis.

Food Options
Stone Mountain Park can provide your group with Meal Tickets or an all you can eat catered buffet lunch, served in a private, covered picnic pavilion. Meal tickets include one entrée, side and a drink. Catered picnic lunches include two entrees, two sides, dessert and drinks (a minimum of 50 is required for picnic lunches). Stone Mountain Park also offers several picnic areas available on a first come, first serve basis, the Studdard Picnic Area and the Triangle Picnic Area.
